The cinema can be the host to many gratifying things; first dates, Ryan Gosling’s face on a 900 inch screen or falling in love with what may become your favourite movie. All of these things may have to wait until DVD if Odeon prices keep escalating! With the average ticket price at £9 it’s surprising how any of us are able to see the latest flick, unless we restrict our viewings to orange Wednesdays where it’ll probably sell out before you can even buy the ticket. Even with student discount we still have to pay a whopping £7.50 for standard seating that’s if you can even get the discount! For those who are not fortunate enough to have an NUS card Odeon refuse to consider our UH cards a form of ID even though our university is literally across the road. Surely if you’re not at this university anymore you won’t be sticking around Hatfield trying to convince everyone you’re still a student? Being that the Odeon is a prime location for university costumers why do they not accommodate students more? The local cinema near me used to not only have orange Wednesdays but student nights as well, where the tickets would be half price! Surely that’s a great business plan? Obviously they want to rinse us dry but don’t come crying to us when you realise that the Odeon was the death of cinema! We could have helped you!
